Service 08 · Practice collection, household hazardous waste, licensed transport
Medical & Hazardous Waste
You have a choice about who handles your practice waste. All Island is EPA-licensed as a hazardous waste hauler and NYSDEC-licensed as a medical waste hauler, and we do not tie you into a long-term contract.

Licensed & certified
Summary
Two quite different groups of people call us about waste. The first runs a practice and needs regulated medical waste collected on a reliable schedule. The second has just found a garage full of things that cannot legally go out with the rubbish. We handle both under the same licences.
On the practice side, we cover medical, hazardous, pharmaceutical and electronics waste, with flexible service options and no long-term contract requirement.

How the job runs
- 01Household hazardous wasteThe discarded, unused or leftover portion of household products containing toxic chemicals. Anything labelled WARNING, CAUTION, POISONOUS, TOXIC, FLAMMABLE, CORROSIVE, REACTIVE or EXPLOSIVE should be treated as hazardous.
- 02Why it cannot go in the binBuried waste filters down through soil and contaminates groundwater. Corrosive chemicals poured down a drain damage plumbing systems. Burning simply distributes the material over a wider area and releases it into the air. Pouring liquids on the ground poisons soil, plants and water.
- 03Empty containers still countBottles and containers that appear empty hold residue and should still be disposed of safely.
- 04Reduce and recycle firstThe best way to deal with household hazardous waste is to have less of it. Keep fewer hazardous chemicals in the house at one time, and pass usable leftovers to friends or community organisations.
- 05Free municipal options existMany communities run household hazardous waste collection events where materials are taken and disposed of by local authorities free of charge. Check with your local waste management facility, fire department or county extension office. We would rather tell you that than charge you for it.
- 06When to call us insteadVolume, contamination, an estate clearance, a commercial quantity, or anything you are not confident identifying. Then it is a job for a licensed hauler.

Out of pocket, most jobs
$0
Most people we work for pay nothing out of pocket.
Most of our services, crime scene cleanup included, are covered by homeowners insurance. Where a crime has been committed, remediation for eligible victims and their families may be covered by the New York State Office of Victim Services. We work with the carrier directly.
The assessment is free and it happens before any work is agreed. You get a written scope, and you get told honestly which route applies, including when the answer is that nothing here is claimable.
After a tragedy you should not be left with the aftermath of a tragedy and a bill. That has been this company's position since it started.
